Malaria No More (MNM), a global nonprofit, envisions a world where no one dies of a mosquito bite. Nearly twenty years into our mission, our work has contributed to historic progress toward this goal. Now, we’re mobilizing the political commitment, funding, and innovation required to achieve what would be one of the greatest humanitarian accomplishments—ending malaria within our generation.

MNM is a global organization with offices in Washington, DC, Nairobi and New Delhi, and affiliates in the United Kingdom and Japan. A majority of our staff work remotely.

Location: Remote, U.S. based

Reports to: Manager, Digital Communications

Job type: This is a part time (~20 hours/week) paid internship position

Position Overview

The Communications Intern will join a highly creative and dynamic communications team working to advance Malaria No More’s domestic and global communications strategy and advocacy objectives. The selected candidate will work across U.S. and international programs to assist in the execution of a comprehensive digital communications strategy. Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in global health, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed undergraduate or graduate degree in communications, journalism, public health, international relations, or a related field
  • Experience writing for global health, health policy, email, websites, and/or social media
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while juggling multiple projects and deadlines
  • Interest in advocacy, global health, and MNM’s mission to end malaria
  • Digital fluency (e.g., proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook)
  • Knowledge of social media scheduling tools, HTML/CSS, WordPress, Canva, and EveryAction highly desired

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in writing, editing, and proofreading internal and external communications, including blog posts, newsletters, and social media and web content
  • Monitor and compile media clips
  • Track key performance metrics across web and social media platforms using analytics tools
  • Assist with the development of email campaigns and weekly news reports: maintain editorial calendar, draft content, and create emails for distribution
  • Support MNM’s communications work around major global health moments, milestones, and observance days, including the UN General Assembly, Champions Breakfast, Giving Tuesday, COP29, and more
  • Assist in organizing and promoting events such as webinars, conferences, and workshops by updating microsites, developing emails, social media content and graphics, and logistics support
  • Provide administrative and research support as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation and Benefits

The internship is a paid position at a rate of $20/hour. We are currently recruiting for Fall 2024 with an approximate start date of mid-September.
