SEATTLE – (Dec 2, 2015) Malaria No More today announced the elevation of director Christopher Combe to board co-chair and the appointment of Michael Lynton and Namal Nawana to its board of directors.
Christopher Combe will serve alongside fellow co-chair, Peter Chernin, applying his extensive experience and strong business acumen to support MNM’s strategic goals. Michael Lynton is CEO of Sony Entertainment and chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, overseeing the companies’ film, television, music and digital content production businesses. Namal Nawana is CEO and President of Alere, a leader in rapid diagnostic tests and the world’s leading manufacturer of diagnostics for malaria.

Combe is chairman of Combe Incorporated, which he established 40 years ago. Combe Incorporated, headquartered in White Plains, N.Y., is a leading global manufacturer and marketer of health and beauty care products including men's grooming brands Just For Men and Aqua Velva and women's health brands including Vagisil. Before taking over as President/CEO IN 2000, Combe launched its businesses in Japan, Australia and New Zealand. He lived in the UK and Belgium for four years managing the company's work throughout Europe.
In addition to his involvement with Malaria No More, Combe supports several global health and human rights initiatives. He is a board member and former chairman of the World Self-Medication Industry association working with the World Health Organization. Additionally, He is a board member of Heart Care International, which provides lifesaving heart surgeries and local training throughout Latin America. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern and currently serves on the university’s board of trustees.
Lynton has led Sony Pictures Entertainment during a decade of unprecedented growth and success. The company has earned numerous accolades for its films and TV shows, including “American Hustle,” “The Social Network,” “Zero Dark Thirty” and “Breaking Bad.” Sony Pictures was one of only two studios to generate more than $1 billion in annual domestic box office sales for more than a decade and broke box office records in 2012 with $4.4 billion in worldwide revenue. Prior to joining Sony in 2004, Lynton served as CEO of AOL Europe, president of AOL International and president of Time Warner International.
Lynton is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the boards of the American Film Institute, Smithsonian Board of Regents, Harvard Board of Overseers, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, J. Paul Getty Trust, USC School of Cinematic Arts and the RAND Corporation. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in history and literature from Harvard College and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
Nawana’s career reflects his passionate belief that strategic innovation can achieve higher quality and more effective health care services that are accessible to all. Before joining Alere, Nawana held various global leadership roles during his 15-year tenure at Johnson & Johnson. His most recent position with the company was as worldwide president of DePuy Synthes Spine. Nawana also serves on the Boards of Alere and AdvaMedDx.
Nawana holds an honors degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in medical sciences from the University of Adelaide in Australia, as well as an M.B.A. from the Henley Business School in the United Kingdom.
