Washington, D.C., November 11, 2021 – Malaria No More CEO Martin Edlund issued the following statement on the announcement that the United States will host the Global Fund’s 7th Replenishment Conference:
The work of the Global Fund has never been more urgent or vital. COVID-19 is disrupting the historic progress the world has achieved against three of the leading killers on the planet: HIV, TB, and malaria. And the capacities we’ve built over the past 20 years to fight these diseases are the fastest and most cost effective way to defeat COVID and prevent the next pandemic.
In stepping up to host the Global Fund’s 7th replenishment conference, the United States is sending a signal to the rest of the world that addressing these key global health challenges will not just save millions of lives, but improve health security and economies worldwide.
