Seattle, April 28, 2020 – Malaria No More joins more than one thousand organizations and individuals —advocates, NGOs, faith leaders, foundations, philanthropic organizations, private sector partners, think tanks and others— from around the world calling on the Trump Administration to continue funding the World Health Organization (WHO) to fight COVID-19.
“During this unprecedented global crisis, it is imperative for the U.S. to demonstrate leadership, and work with the global community to stop the spread of COVID-19, but also to help strengthen the global public health architecture to mitigate a crisis of this magnitude from happening again…We believe it is critical to continue to support WHO’s work…to keep people safe around the world and here at home” according to the letter sent to the White House, which was coordinated by the Global Health Council. These efforts continue to be vital to flattening the curve, preventing dual crises from COVID-19 and saving millions of additional lives from existing epidemics such as malaria, AIDS and TB.
Among the signatories are the American Academy of Pediatrics, Center for International Policy, Elizabeth Glaser and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, Global Citizen, Mercy Corps, Oxfam America, The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, Partners in Health, PATH, Population Services International, and the United Nations Foundation.
