"A Malaria Free World"
I live in Kenya where thousands of brilliant minds die every year as a result of malaria. Many families suffer because of this disease. Instead of trying to develop our country we are dealing with funerals.
I personally know how it feels to witness a person dying...The first days my uncle was sweating, shivering while he had a high body temperature...He never got better. He got worse...and became weaker with each passing day. All of us who were supporting him were pained to see his struggle. Why do we have to watch our relatives, friends, brothers and sisters die?
Nations, governments, NGO's must come together as one and inform people that malaria can be treated. We must help get that treatment to places where this disease is most affected. In the north of Kenya there are few hospitals and oftentimes to get treatment one much travel a distance of about 400 kilometers by foot to the hospital because transport is also a problem.
Some people do not know that malaria exists and when a family member contracts it they assume that it is something small. We need to get both information and resources to the rural areas that malaria exists so it can be treated.
If we want to develop a country such as Kenya, we must begin with those issues that affect our health. To make a better nation, a better world, we need to post information about malaria that it can be prevented and treated and is real.
Organizations, governments and the people at large need to see that we must all come together to help one another so we may be able to make our world a malaria free world.
