Ruth Mukete and her husband were rejoicing.
In their small apartment in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Ruth and her husband had just found out they were expecting their first child. They began making plans and sharing the happy news with family and friends. Then, everything changed.
It started with a fever. Ruth was rushed to the hospital where she was diagnosed with malaria. She began treatment right away, but it was too late for her baby. In the midst of her grief, the doctor explained the dangers of not sleeping under a mosquito net—especially for pregnant women.
Now, two years later, Ruth always sleeps under a net. And it’s paid off. She’s six months pregnant and has become a malaria advocate. Partnering with Malaria No More, she educates other women and girls about malaria so they too can experience the joy of a healthy baby.
Your gift helps women like Ruth.
